About

What is MEGA?

The Mechanical Engineering Graduate Association (MEGA) is a student organization within Columbia's Department of Mechanical Engineering. MEGA grew out of a student initiative to create a greater sense of community among the graduate population. MEGA is the first department-level student government recognized by Engineering Graduate Student Council.

The purpose of the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Association is to:

  • enrich the graduate student experience through academic, social, community outreach, career & professional development, and health & wellness programming targeted specifically to its  members,

  • represent the interests of its members with a unified voice to the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the greater Columbia University community,

  • communicate information relevant to the interests of its members,

  • and assist the Department of Mechanical Engineering as needed in executing departmental initiatives.

Who does MEGA represent?

All graduate students in the mechanical engineering department are automatically members of MEGA. In addition, any doctoral student whose PI is a mechanical engineering faculty member is also considered a member of MEGA.
